  • A new health innovation programme has been launched, backed by up to £85m from the government and Lilly. Funding for this competition is from DSIT (£50m) and Lilly (£35m) via grant. The programme is delivered by Innovate UK and will take innovative, community-based approaches to delivering holistic weight management support, integrated into the existing health system – without placing further strain on services. With obesity costing the UK health service more than £11bn each year, impacting the lives of millions, action to tackle the condition is urgently needed. The programme will help to demonstrate new ways of accessing support for people living with obesity to manage their weight and improve their health, testing better ways for people to get the care and services they need.   • From Waste to Wealth - DZP Technologies Ltd worked with the University of Warwick to develop the SILVER project - a process for recovering industrial silver from manufacturing waste ?? The SILVER project has developed a ground-breaking, eco-friendly process to recover nearly 100% of industrial silver from manufacturing waste—all while operating at lower temperatures and using biodegradable chemicals. ?????? This development: - Reduces the UK's reliance on imports, bolstering supply chain resilience - Is gentler on the planet than traditional high?temperature, acid?heavy methods - Supports electrification: recovered silver can be reused in EVs, renewable energy, electronics—and even other critical minerals Innovate UK £78,492 grant empowered DZP to demonstrate real-world feasibility and deliver commercial lab-scale results—tailoring silver for use in adhesives, pastes, and advanced manufacturing.   • Calla Lily Clinical Care are reshaping how vaginally administered drugs are delivered to improve outcomes for a range of gynaecological conditions. Since they began working with Innovate UK in 2021, they have: - Won a £700k Biomedical Catalyst grant to support industry led research & development. - Attended Global Business Innovation Programmes to explore US market opportunities. - Worked with Innovate UK Business Growth on intellectual property protection and investment readiness. As a result, Calla Lily has secured £2.2m in grant funding, £4.5m in private investment, and grown its team from 4 to 16, including creating two new PhD opportunities with Queen Mary University of London and the University of Warwick.
